The atmosphere was beautiful and warm. We enjoyed the Lega Tibis (beef) along with five veggie samplers, all of which were delicious. The server was very nice. While the wine options were limited, I had the red Cabernet, which was still good!

My first time trying Ethiopian food and really enjoyed it! We did the shared plate with Lega Tbis, Doro Wat, Alicha Wote with Lamb, and Awaze Tibis. We had Red Lentils, Yello Split Pea, Cabbage, and Collard Greens as our sides. it was served on and with rolled injera bread. This unique bread is spongy and a great tool for eating the meal with our hands . Service was a bit slow at the end of the meal, we sat for about 20 minutes waiting for our bill so took a star off for that, otherwise was and really enjoyable meal!

Didn't realize they'd have a buffet when we went for lunch today, but boy am I glad they did! It gave us a chance to try a lot of stuff. There was chicken, beef, and lamb. There was red and yellow Kentish, delicious potato/carrot side, macaroni, rice, a delicious tomato, onion, lemon, jalapeño salad that I loved. The service was so friendly and relaxed, and the place was clean with ample space and a full bar. Definitely one to return to!!

This place is soooo good!! Despite having two very good friends from Ethiopia, Ive never eaten at an Ethiopian restaurant nor had an Ethiopian full course meal, so this was a crash course into their cultural cuisine, and I loved it. The service at Elsa's was attentive and endearing. And the place is clean and spacious. And the food was good!!! My favorites were the (meat) sambusa, which are Ethiopian "samosas", and the fried fish. But Everything was delicious and very flavorful! I would definitely return, but heads up, parking is tight. There is limited street parking out front, but for the most part, you'll have to spin da block a few times if you're driving there. Overall, highly recommend!

I stopped for lunch while at a conference at a nearby hotel. I'd never had Ethiopian and it sounded more fun than conference food and that was true! The service was lovely- I didn't know what anything really was so they gave a few recommendations. I ended up getting the derek tibs with collard greens and lentils. It came served on injera and they told me how to eat with injera, which was helpful. They also brought some hot sauce which really took it up a notch. Everything was delicious, wish I could easily go back!

Easy five star review for Woodley Park's newest restaurant! Elsa is a delicious Ethiopian paradise with amazing entrees for vegans and carnivores alike. The owners are lovely, and the ambiance is great. I loved the meat sampler; the beef was perfectly charred on the outside and tender on the inside. My vegan friend loved the soy meat plate as well. YUM!

So happy to have an Ethiopian restaurant in Woodley Park! The owners and waitstaff are welcoming and friendly. The portions are generous - we ordered the soya tibis and veggie platter share among 4 people. We had to ask for extra injera, it all tasted so good. Overall, the check was less than $50 and we were stuffed! Great bang for your buck.

Had dinner for 3 people. I'm happy to say that this place rocks, and it's a welcome addition to the neighborhood! For 3 people, we had 1 order of ground beef Sambusa appetizers, then 1 Veggie Combo Platter with 1 order of beef Derek Tibs (which are placed in the middle of the platter). Also got the tea. This was the perfect amount of food for 3 people, and was really quite affordable per person. We all walked away very full & satisfied! It was nice to see it reasonably busy on a Friday night and gaining traction despite only being open for 2 months. The music videos projected on the wall were also fun to watch. We will definitely come visit again!
